The Ministry of the Interior's Fire Administration celebrated its 30th anniversary on the 20th in Zhushan, Nantou, with President Lai Ching-te presiding over the ceremony. The event also marked the inauguration of the Training Center's Phase II facilities, symbolizing Taiwan's continued modernization of its fire service.
The government has approved 24 medium-term initiatives totaling NT$28.5 billion, covering equipment upgrades, facility improvements, AI integration, and enhanced disaster response capabilities. Plans include replacing 236 fire vehicles by 2026, adding 3,000 firefighters since 2019, and recruiting another 3,000 by 2028 to strengthen frontline capacity.
On the technology front, the Fire Administration is deploying 88 drone units and 88 rescue robots nationwide to improve disaster intelligence and rescue efficiency while reducing risks for frontline personnel, ushering in a new era of smart disaster response.
